I am replacing my ECU as my car is a nonstarter at the mo! But do I need to change my old coil pack too? The people who I bought the ECU from said that I would have to get a BOUGICORD coil pack as it was the old Sagem coil pack which was damaging the ECU in the first place. But when I rang up a Citroen service, they sounded like they didn't know what I was talking about!
So what do I do? Stick the new ECU in now with the old Sagem coil pack and hope it doesn't f*ck it up, or wait patiently and get a new coil pack anyway?
Anyone who has changed their ECU and would like to share their experiences?!

you wont need a new coilpack unless your coilpack is fked...
you will need to unlock your new ecu! unless it came out of a simular car engine/year etc

Thanks for your replies guys. I got a new ECU which has already been programmed to work once I plug it in.
I don't think they're trying to rip me off coz I'm not getting the coil pack from the same people I bought the Ecu from anyway. But they said I needed to change the coil pack, coz in case it was that which was causing the problem in the first place, and I don't replace my coil pack, the 2 year warranty will be invalid.
Hard thing now is trying to find a BOUGICORD coil pack which no one seems to stock! My car's been undriveable for a month now!! :(

if you needed a coil pack why did u buy a new ecu?
im sure the easyest way to find out is plug your new ecu in and see if the car starts?
the reason your car aint starting could be several things... spark plugs naff? ur crank sencor cud b dodgy.. or your coil pack has gone!

I took my car to the garage and they diagnosed it with a f*cked up ECU. And they said the problem usually lies in the coil pack where it has damaged the ECU. So the coil pack most probably is f*cked. If I plug in the new ECU with the old coil pack, it will damage the new ECU. Even with one turn of the ignition could f*ck up the ECU and I don't wanna risk that considering I paid about £275 for it!!

Well I saw it on Ebay for £185 and rang up that company to purchase it for that price. I also had to pay a surchage fee of £40 for the return of my old ECU unit, which will be refunded to me on their receipt of my ECU. Delivery was £8.70. Unfortunately all that wasn't including VAT so that's what bumped the total price up abit.
It had better start up in the end!!
