How do i know if i live in a high risk area or whatever the insurance people call it?

I'm 18 passed in September and every time i get a quote on a 1996 saxo 1.1i sx.. its well over 2k for third party fire n theft..

its the only thing stopping me from getting a car because i can afford the car just not 2k+ insurance

I got a quote from Endsleigh back in September just after i passed and it was £1400ish third party fire and theft and i thought "yea thats great" so the perfect saxo went up for sale near me about 2 weeks ago i was gonna go and buy it i looked back on the site and it was over 2k.. does anyone know what the hell thats all about?

the reason your insurance is high is because your young, have 0 ncb and have just passed your test, i know high risk area to theft does bump it up a little but if you lived in the best place in britain you may save at the most £50 your area wont have that much of a price difference, the main factors that decide your quote are age ncb and when you passed ya test.

Try quoteline direct mate, I found them pretty good!

And I totally agree, Insurance quotes for young drivers are madness!

I paid £1950 on my 1.2 8V Punto :O

Try putting your parents on the claim with you as secondary drivers, it sometimes helps. :)

It would also go higher as the 1996 is an old model and quite unsafe in a crash.

Thanks, but i don't think this will help because my mum hasn't driven since she crashed 5 years ago so no ncb :-\

cheapest quote(so far for fully comp): £1,951.95 with Prudential

I payed just under 2k for third party on my 1.1 Saxo in my first year, exactly the same situation as you.

Now a year on and a years no claims and pass plus it has gone down to 800
