I need to order a new coil pack for my Saxo 1.4 1999, but I was told I need to check what colour the connecting wire is. How do I go about identifying it? It's supposed to be either grey or black.
Cheers x

When I recently bought my coil pack they asked the same question, the colour in hand is the actual clip that joins the wires to the car/coil pack. Mine was grey.
It's in the yellow square on the picture below:

Does it make a difference if I buy a used coil pack? I don't want to take the risk of it blowing up my new ECU. I think it's about a £10 difference for a new coil pack.

Personally for a piece of mind I would just buy a new one, if it's faulty you can always return it but I doubt it. I rather get a new thing than a second hand one when we are talking something like 10-20 pounds more!.
Personal opinion though :).
