i have been driving for about 8 months now and im a named driver on my dads policy with direct line. I am earning my own ncb so i wondered what sort of prices will i be looking at insuring a brand new astra 1.4/1.6 hatchback at 18

Get quotes mate. Hard to say really. All depends on area. Should be too much with your no claims bonus. Slightly higher than normal cus of value of car.

Not sure what group insurance they are. But shouldnt be more than a vtr i wouldnt have thought. And Vtr your lookin at below the £1000 mark at 18 with a years no claims if you shop around abit.

i reckon around £2k - £3k! Think about it. £15K car, brand new so there is no way you can get tpft insurance. So you will be paying fully comp.

Also, me and a mate went to test drive on of these and he said it was one of the poorest cars he's driven. He went and bought a new punto grande, which is actually very good. A diesel but it is pretty rapid. Which the astra really isn't!
