dont get one that mixes with milk they will be shite. look at the dorian yates range aswell.
there worth getting depends how serious you wanna be and if your training right. your cant do one or the other.
if bloke A trained hes ass off in the gym and only eat ok compared to bloke B who trained not as hard but eat well bloke B will get the better gains

lets see the progress pics then starkie.
Don't get the holland and barrett one its crap.
My recomendation is the phd farmer whey, avaliable from www.monstersuppliments.co.uk (google it if it doesn't work in the link). It tastes great and offers the most protein. You really don't need to take 3 times a day. Taking it once a day straight after a work out would be sufficient. This one also tastes great.
The prolab optimum whey protein also has the same amount of protein in as the farmer whey and is a similar price. Not sure on the taste of this one though.

just see how you get on id say atleast take it twice depending how much protein is in it, even lookm at a weight gainer- protein and carbs if your a bit thin. as barret said most important time is straight after workout, the other time is in the morning as your body will need it at this time dew to a long time of no food. just have good meals and youll see the gains.
barret cheers for that other thing aswell

Bullit - No worries mate
Yeah on a gym day i take a shake in the morning and straight after a work out with a bowl of porridge. Buts still need to shift a few more pounds too. The most important thing is eating well balanced good food.

As bulit said its all about the food, 80% is food the rest is iron room

I am a personal trainer so my advice:
If you are looking to build muscle you should be eating about 2g of protein per kg of bodyweight - If you eat more than this it will get stored at fat as the body cannot process all of it....so work out how much you need to eat and dont drink protein shakes like mad. Also, the body can only absorb/process around 35g of protein at a time, so if you are drinking huge servings of shakes containing 60g of protein you will put on a lot of fat.
People think drinking the more protein the better, but it is not the case! Stick to the 2g per kg of bodyweight per day and you will see reuslts.
If possible avoid shakes all together, the same results can be achieved just as well by eating alot of high protein foods like chicken, meat, egg whites, lentils, fish etc. and dont contain the sugars, sweeteners, and chemicals that protein shakes do. If possible avoid ones containing aspartame.
Obviously it is not allways possible to eat high protein meals throughout the day, im just saying do some research before buying any old tub of "GET MASSIVE NOW" protein. Read whats in it and make your mind up.
last thing, unless you are training the protein wont be utilised as much, so again if you are eating massive amounts of protein and not training, you will get fat and not put on muscle.
Anyway bit long that, but ask me if you wasnt any advice.

the advantage of a protein shake post exercise is that the 'protein' you get is technically not protein, its the constituants of protein, amino acids. Therefore your body can absorb them faster and use them to synthesise the new muscle to allow the muscle to develop.

agreed. it is a good idea to consume a small high protien and high carb meal straight after training as the muscles are more receptive to nutrients, and there is still good blood flow to muscles. It must be consumed within 2 hours of training though.
