My engine has been hoisted, gearbox replaced, clutch replaced etc.

When I turned the key two clicks the rev needle bounces even though the car isnt on and a weird clicky kinda noise is repeating itself.

When i turn to do a third click for the engine to start, nothing, not a noise or anything.

When we Jump started the car it started fine, however the revs needed to be kept up otherwise It would die.

Is there a solution to what this may be?

Need a new Battery?

Even so I dont think the car should cut off without the battery being charged if I remember correct, I had a similar problem with my car, the fact that it never idled it just cuts off everytime it went to where it's suposed to idle in the end I changed the plugs/coil pack and it turned out to be a faulty sensor :S. Anyway just try get hold of a battery see if it's that and let us know, good luck.

mine did that, new battery sorted that out, does the clock reset to 1:00 when it does this?

happening to mine at the moment which is poo.

I've been told to clean the sensors around the air intake thing as these can get oily!

have you checked the wires to the idle speed controler?
