i was comign off a roundabout, and the only way i can describe is taht i felt summti slip, like there was no pressure or resistance and it lost all power
its done 52k, 01 plate

yea theres nothing in the battery at all,
its hard to explain wot happened.... i will try.....

i drove for about 120 miles with no problems, then on the M6 it kept feeling like the car was loosing power wen i pressed the excelerator.

came onto the A14 off the M1, straight on the junction and was coming off a roundabout thing, was in 2nd gear so i sped up and moved into 3rd then it just felt as if something slipped and there was no resistance on the accelerator and had no power at all, all the lights flashed on and it just cut out, with the lights still on. i got out of car etc.. with hazards and that on, ten minutes later the lights and everything went out!

There doesnt seem to be any reason why this may have been set off, but have you tried clicking the fuel cut off switch under your bonnet (its over at the back right of the bay, should be a bright orange/red rubber switch)

If it makes a click when u press it u may have just solved your problem :xmas_wink:

Fucking Odd.

I am however, willing to take a punt at an alternator problem. Did the battery light come on, followed by everything else? If so the alt could be at fault. First thing to do, either way is get it charged up. If it starts and runs when its charged then its probably electrical. Other possibility is the air filter. Could be blocked. Do you have an induction kit? Was it raining mega hard/wet last night?

Hmm, well your belts are ok so it doesnt sound like anything major is damaged.

The way it happened sounds tame, like wiring going or the fuel cut-off triggering.

Sounds like the alternator to me.... pretty much exactly what happened to mine a while back...

90% sure its electrical. Check the earths under the bonnet. If it were me I'd replace them any way (will cost you a tenner for the bits at halfords, then its just changing cables, your stepdad should be able to manage it if you can't)

Get the battery charged up and then see if it starts. If it does then use a multimetre to check the cable attached to the alternator to see if current is passing through it and charging. If it isn't then Mr Alternator is a cunt and needs to be replaced. If it is it could be a dead battery, pop a long to your local battery place and get them to check it.

Then go to www.theaa.com and get some roadside relay cover. Best thing you can get for a french car :)

Alternator seems like the next logical step + the saxo alternators have a bit of a reputation for aspiring to be doorstops!
