Hello new the site and this is my first VTS had turbos before this little pocket rocket..

ok now to the prop..

Heat... to drive the car it will sit on about half way maybe in the middle of that and hot..

give the car some beans and it will fall to about half way ..

BUT when the car has stop ie sitting at lights... the temp will climb into the red nearly but today after a bit of a beating the little red light came on so i drove down the road open'd the bonnent and turn'd it all off..

I have put a brand new rad into this and also rasie the bonnent up bye about 1" gonna give it a little more tomorrow..

But i no this car should not run this hot help us out running out of ideas now..

tomorrow buying a new fan sender unit hopefully be that but if it aint well i got no idea

is the fan coming on? they normally come on when the temp gauge reads just over half.
if it all seems to be working how it should be just add another fan next to your existing one.

I had this same problem, Seeing as you have already replaced your radiator I would.

1) Flush out your coolant system to get rid of any possible air locks. (check to see if it's alright)

2) Replace your thermostat (Was my problem, only a tenner and easy as pie to fit)

3) The dreaded head gasket (losing any power? Stuttering? Any smoke?)

^^^

As above really, the thermostat was a problem with my S to so whip it out, get a new one in Your need both thermostat and seals (Seals are maindealer only) all in about £12 thermo and seals, flush the system out the new rad will also help. Worth mentionin I had a problem with my rad cap not holdin pressure and would dump water once the engine was turned off, for a couple quid it wouldnt hurt to have a new one if one wasnt supplied with the rad.

Mines fine now and only moves off half way when comin of motorway and stoppin and heavy traffic but never goes past 1/4.

Oh and welcome to the site mate :-) Shame your 1st post is about a problem but your get used to fix it! Thats half the fun :-)

Enjoy the site
