Ok my VTS is coming up to 80k :panic: Ive already done a full service but didnt the garage didnt have time to do my Cam belt so Im do to have this done straight after Xmas, but I have gained a constant squeek like a Fan Belt squeek which is related to the rev's of the engine I Also have a squeek on full lock of my steering.

My question is - Can a constant squeek be a WaterPump on its way out as I can get this changed at the same time as my cam belt.

Thanx guys :clapping:

the bearings in the water pump could squeek, hold a long metal ended screw driver on the water pump when its runnin and put the handel to ur ear, it acts as a stefascope (or howeva u spell it) if u hear the squeeking clearly then it could be that

Ok, but what else could be making a squeek fan belt style noise?

Alternator possibly, I just want to know before it goes in to have the cambelt changed so I don't get stung for something that doesnt need doing

I thought it was common practice to change the water pump at the same time as you would do the cam belt.

pour water or summat ( iused coke) on the alternator belt and see if it goes it might just be the belt is dryd up and on its way out mine was

on full lock the noise will be the powersteering pump

I had somthing like this, i got a squeek when moving but you dont hear it when the cars still, and it speeds up when you speed up, but makes no noise if cars still and you rev, it was my drive shaft thats was making this noise, replaced it and all was fine
