Hi

I usually keep the tyre pressures on my car set to what is specified in the car's handbook (2.2 on front, 2.0 on back I think - tyres are 165/65/R14T - car is 1.1i 2002 3dr Sax) but I just wondered what I should set them to if I have more weight than normal in the car? I'm going to have quite a bit extra weight in the car next week when I goto the lake district for Christmas (suitcase, booze, presents, one person in front with me).

On the sticker on the inside of the drivers door (where it hinges from) isnt there specified pressures for regular use and use under extra load?

anyone know what the standard psi is for normal tyres on a 1.1 1997 saxo?

32 front... 36 rear... if I remember correctly.

Check the tables at local garages. Should also tell you in your handbook. Figures are also displayed on your tyre walls.

I had 165/65/R14 back in the day.

I think the psi was to remain the same even when loaded... Of course if you are applying more weight to the car than the maximum load (check handbook for max laden weight).

I'm pretty sure it remains the same. If you want to be sure... increase the pressure by no more than .1 of a bar and avoid full motorway speed. The tyres wont explode or anything. But it's best to be safe.

Check your tyres before setting off. look at the wear and check for cracks.

How much weight are you intending to put on it?

Bah, Its FREEZING. My sticker says its 2.3 Bar front and 2 Bar rear for light and heavy loads. Thats for 195/45/15s

I would just fill them up ot their reccomended pressure before you leave and you shouldnt have any problems

Just to check something, I have the standard vtr alloys with the original tyres on the back, but the front tyres are not a different make. Should the front still be 2.2 bar or will this change because they are a different make of tyre?

Shouldn't make any difference.
