my vtr's mot is due next week, as ive never put a saxo through an mot i was just wondering what things i should look out for on a saxo to avoid it failing..... any help welcome ,thank you

There are MOT guides you can get on the net which tell you everything you need to check. If you run through one of those and dont find any problems then you can feel pretty comfortable about putting it in.
Make sure and stick the catalyst back on if you have a de-cat ;)

just check your usual lights,wipers,tyres etc

ive got the cat on , but the gaurd/protector thing isnt on , is that a problem

that shudnt be a problem. basically check for safety 1st
seat belts, tyres, wipers, mirrors, brake pads and discs ect
then light checks, battery, emissions, always good to change sparkplugs before you put it through as this is common reason for failing emissions.
if you have a de-cat pipe it might pass depending on wether the tester is sound. if you have a standard catalytic converter you are fine.
just have a basic look around engine bay to see if you notice any faults.
if all the following aregood you shudnt have much toworry about

check the basics like everyones said
if you can take it for a good run before you take it so it gets hot helps with emissions a bit
