Engine Auto Start

Has anyone had any experience with these, Press and button and abra kadabra your engine starts up lol... Also a price and place of how much and where i can get one from. Thanks

i seem to remember looking at these ages ago - i think they were about £40 or £50.

i'm not 100%, but i'm sure you still have to put your key in the ignition to deactivate the immobiliser.

while the idea of pressing a button to start the car is pretty cool, having to use your key as well kind of defeats the object imo

Mike Cracknell has just had one put in in conjuction with his alarm. All starts itself with the touch of a button and you don't need your keys in there :)

if its a remote start, it invalidates your cat1 immobiliser.

if its a button start, i'll shut up. and ask how it works lol

if I remember right you have to do two clicks with your key in BUT whats the point a couple more clicks n your car will start anyways hahahaha.


id like to know more about the key thob method for sure thats somat id buy straight away if i new where to look to buy one.

ive got one on my vtr its mounted on the blank switches on the centre console it cost me £40 its a Richbrook one aswel and really easy to fit

They all work in conjunction with your key. Put key in turn to position 2 and press button. That press of the button is the same as twisting your key to position 3 on the ignition.

I believe that if you try to drive the car the imobiliser will kick in and also the alarm will sound. It is a clifford alarm which are considered one of the best. Your best bet is to PM Crackers himself :) :y:

yeh i've got a toad on mine. i'm sure he told me i could have remote start on it, but its a couple of years ago now so i cant really remember.

i do like the idea of it for cold mornings etc, but if it compromises security, i'd rather sit like an eskimo for an extra couple of minutes!

i guess the best and primary use of a push button start is race cars then!...actually, dont some new cars (laguna and possibly beemers?) have the card instead of a key to get into the car. i think these use a button start because they can detect the card is present and deactivates the immobiliser :ponder:

Im sure Clifford do an alarm where you press start on the remote and obviously when you get out the car the night before set the heaters to hot and full whack. Then when you press the start button the following morning the cars engine starts and its warm when you get in, only thing with this is, you gotta remember to set the heaters and leave the car OUT OF GEAR!!!
