View Full Version : 2 Monaro VXR's in one Day!

Well it was a challenge but finished in good time nonetheless.

Process was:
TFR
Snow Foam
Rinse
Snow Foam
2 Buckets (1 x warm water)
Klasse AIO
Collinite
Wheels - TFR and/or Megs WB as required.
Glass - NXT + AG Glass Cleaner
Tyres Megs Tyre Gel

Cars turned up at 9:00 and left at 3:45. No breaks.

Spent the day getting these two beauties back to cleanliness. They are now thoroughly prepared for the season's worst and should survive till spring :)

The VXR500 (one with the supercharger! :y: ) was filthy but it had been detailed by me in the summer so once the crap was removed there was still a good shine and a good base layer there.

The other VXR hadn't been detailed before but as there wasn't enough time I didn't clay or polish on this occasion however it does need it and the owner will be back in April for a full detail.

Some before shots to get you in the mood :)

they could be gay though

SaxyDan

Yeah, nearly 1000hp sitting outside! It was sweet, they are so loud too, the ground literally shakes when they start up - I am begging my dad to get one (we used to have a CV8 with the 5.7l engine with approx 430hp after tuning which was awesome :))

Also, the vxr jackets were given out free at a donnington BTCC round in the summer and as far as I know, they aren't gay lol!

did u get any interior shots?

SaxyDan
17th December 2006, 16:45
Krovean, we didn't have time to do the interiors, the owners just wanted the exteriors to be protected over winter from all the shite and salt that gets put on the roads. In april we are going to give one of them a 'proper' detail with full swirl removal etc. probably topped with Zymol destiny or atlantique, I will be sure to post them up for you :)

Those things sound better than they look and in true vauxhall fashion the price will take a nose dive on the 2nd hand market making them alot more affordable.

Although the Astra VXR is where my money would go :)

:P hehehe. The Astra VXR is a nice car and v. quick but the Monaro is in a different league IMO, there is no replacment for displacement and the FWD torque steer on the Astra would drive me nuts, especially when the upgrades start coming. There is going to be a fully warranteed 600hp pac coming next which includes an intercooler and pulley upgrades to the supercharger for some serious power. We also have an nitrous kit sitting in our office at the moment which could provide some fun :panic:

I'm being sensible though a 5.0Lt Superchargered car is going to murder my fuel budget.

SaxyDan
17th December 2006, 21:51
It's worse than that, it's a 6.0l! Actually the consumption isn't too bad, they have so much lazy torque that they can quite happily chug along at 80mph on the motorway doing 30mpg and the supercharger is rather clever in that it shuts itself off when it's not being used to save fuel.

I cant believe a 60l is economical with or without supercharger but if money was no option I'd get one tomorrow.

I like to think of it as damage limitation lol! :)

Yeah I know what you mean I use to try and keep off the boost with my GT in an attempt to improve economy but it didn't work and that was only a 1.4 :)
