I have recently renewed my car insurance. I was with Elephant (who were great, and cheap) but my renewal was too expensive and so I got a quote with Tesco - £200 cheaper! I got to the end of the quote and it said "This is your quote, we've saved it - this is your folder no, this is your PIN no, we will send you a confirmation email shortly"

When I came to actually buy the quote I went back to their confirmation email and clicked on the 'buy' link - it asked me for this 'folder number and pin number' - so i flicked back to the email, and guess what? The two numbers they require are NOT sent in their confirmation email, contrary to what they implied on the quote page! :n:

I called them up and got stroppy, and they managed to find my quote and charged me internet prices over the phone for my stroppiness....lol!

However, the moral of the story is.....don't rely on them emailing you anything relevant, write it all down!!!

^^^ Adam that's shocking!

My renewal from elephant was £750, my quote from tesco therefore £550, me as the policyholder, dad as driver, on my fiesta, with 1 years ncb.

Boe, when i lost the folder numbers etc, i did the quote again and it had gone up to £650!! - Glad i got stroppy huh..?

Apologies Leckie! - to be fair i was shocked at that price too!

I am not gonna start with all the "women are better drivers" nonsense 'cos its not actually statistically true...although I am a most excellent driver ;)

.........£80 A YEAR?? WTF???? What does your mum drive?

when i took the policy out. 1 years driving, 0 ncb and was 19 on a 53plate vtr.

Next year when im 21, Will be 2 years driving (just under 3 years) 1 NCB on my car and it will be just under 900 quid a nice drop of 1.2k in a year which is nice.

Fair play Adam....insurance is a pile o' shite though to be fair.

Leckie, I am 19 on a 53 plate...but it's a smaller engine, its not french (lol) and now i have 1 year ncb. Glad it's gonna go down that much, probably 'cos you're 21 - your excess should also go down, good news! - Just don't hit anything until your renewal!!
