Just wondered if anyone knows if this noise is likely to be a serious problem or not! There is a whining noise coming from what i think is the timing belt of my vts. It's the belts that are under the casing to the left of the engine? It doesn't seem to be there when the engine's cold but is there when warmed up. When up around 70ish, you can't really hear it but at low revs, when accelerating and at idle, it is very noticeable! Any help appreciated!

get it checked, it may be something as simple as it rubbing on the casing but if its more serious and breaks bye bye valves and possibly more smileys/smiley3.gif

The belt commonly rubs on the outer plastic casing... after a while it wears a nice groove and is fine.
However, ALL VTS's do whine from the cams... its just a Citroen thing smileys/smiley5.gif I had mine properly tensioned at GMC using the strain gauge... and it still whined afterwards.

Got it checked and weirdly enuf, just before he looked at it, i pressed the belt casing in towards the block and as if by magic the noise stopped! They reckon the timing belt still needs changed tho..45,000 miles? Any thoughts? I'm not sure if it's been changed before or not.
