Hi Guys,
My to be VTR is overheating only don 58k miles. The radiator has some kind of blue corrosion on the thin filament. The heat pin goes nearly to red and drops to mid way over and over.
Could this be the thermostat, water pump, or radiator.
Please help guys.
Cheers :P

thats normal, it drops when water passes through the rad as the thermostat opens
mine runs at half but ive just reneved the coolant and bleed the system
try testing the thermostat first

do a search for coolent bleeding
im sure someone posted a guide
but you fill system with water
start car
open bleed points
blow into expansion tank
wait till only water comes out of bleed points
close bleep points
top up water
put expansion tank cap on

got a haynes?
basically undo the bleed screw on the top of the rad and close when all the air has stopped coming out and coolant starts
do the same with the bleed screw on the thermostat housing and in the coolant gallery

got to use a header tank aswell and run the engine at just over idle to circulate the water

Mine is the same. It has been in the garage twice and they have assured me this is perfectly normal for my model and age saxo. Mine is a 2000 V reg....
It goes upto 3/4 on motorways and then drops to 1/2 on normaly driving conditions and back upto 3/4 or just over when in traffic.

hang on!!! you never said the warnin light comes on
3/4 is normal but not over or the warning light
mine is runnig at under half constanlty normal driving in the cold (its freezing)
bleed ur system and checkthe levels and condition of the coolant
check the thermostat by suspending it in boiling water

I know this is an old thread but having problems with overheating and used the search button ;)
My car used to always run in the centre of the temp gauge, recently its been getting realy high, almost touching red but then soon cools to half way
if the temp is only reaching 3/4 b4 going down i wouldnt really worry too much

u sed about a blue colour around the radiator fins or sumthing... that would normally b a leakage. if u wnt to play it safe get everything u mentioned replaced including the radiator.
