the powersteering and heaters dnt work at the same time, but some times when the car is started and i move the key around it comes on, this use to turn it on all the time, but recently its harder to get it working and most the time im driving round without powersteering, its a right pain in the ass. anyone knw wot the problem is? cheers

the alternator is defintaly on the way out never new this could cause a proplem though.

yeah, when i start the car up alot fo the time, my powersteering isnt working then all of a sudden after like 10 mins it will work, is my altenator on the way out?

thts exactly same as mine im changeing my alternator in next few days if it gets the heater and powersteering working or not, ill let u knw ether way.

my powersteering goes on and off - comes on more often in the summer itd seem - but the heaters work fine apparantly i need a new pump or someone can fix it. Anyone know who that guy is that can fix it?

im just buying one off my m8 for 30 quid, used. i think there like 60 or 70 new.

check the sticky at the top of the problems and quieres thread, it will solve this problem for you

lmao dont you hate it when people dont have a clue..

why would an alternator stop pas working ???

its the ignition barrel 110% mate do the mod first then new barrel id put £200000 on it

listen the alternator has nothing to do with the fact its cutting out....

basically i recently have had my pump replaced....

its a problem with your ignition barrel.

that needs replacin BUT first try this:

remove the covers, access the barrel.... it has two brown wires....

you remove them and put them together, this fix is recommened by citroen since they cocked up.... guy at citroen showed me it...

Where can i buy a ignition barrel from?

If i replace it my heaters and p/s will start working again?

yes! OR DO THE FIX IN THE STICK AT THE TOP OF THE FORUM!!!!!!!!

join the two brown cables its simple! and save u about 100quid for a new barrel from citroen they`l only rip you off.! just do the fix yourself its easy!

does the heated rear screen work??

If not then you either need the ignition barrell changing or you can join the wires some how, I had to change the ignition barrell and my alternator, aparently the alternator caused the problem though (thats what the garage said)!

Quite a common problem as well!
