Now awhile back i took mine off to spray it RED! came off fine, sprayed it and when i refitted it it was a nightmare! The spacers which fell out would not go back in propperly (they sit over the thread) then the splash shield then the rocker cover, but it didnt seem to clamp down tight enough to create a seal and it pissed oil out.....
So i refitted it WITHOUT the spacers and it fitted fine?. However.... how the hell do you do it so that it fits and what are the spacers for? Seems to be fine without!
Last time i took it off the thread on the head also snapped in 2 so im abit scared of removing it again incase the same thing happens

I had this problem when i sprayed my mk2 vtr rocker cover mate, it just didnt seem to want to go back on? In the end i did manage to get it back on so keep at it it is fiddly! Not sure why yours was leaking oil as mine didnt maybe you need a new seal?

did you use the spacers? The cover seemed to 'rock' on the spacers as if it didnt go down tight enough?
Without the spacers it fitted ok

When I put mine back on I managed to get the spacers back on but it was VERY fiddly. I assumed that if they were there in the first place then surely they served a purpose.
Change the rocker gasket and put te spacers back on.

think u mite have hadthe spacers on the wrong side of the plate! took me ages to work out how to get it back on when i did my furio, if u unsrew the coilpack and move it back it gives u much more room to do it!

no problem mate, definately that, plus its better with spacres on as it stops you overtightning of the bolts on the rocker
