what is the best setup to have in a saxo VTS, i only buy alpine, dont know why but i like it. At the moment i have 6x9 in the back and 2 way speakers in the front with tweeters being powered by an amp. Is it better to just have a sub in the back without the 6x9?

front components with a sub in the boot, that be it!
standard front door speakers are 13cm but would be better with some 16cm in the front made in some door pods

'The best' well that depends how muh money and time you've got ;) .
Being serious though, like above; the best is the largest components you can get up front and a single sub. 6x9s definately do not come in to the equation if they are in the back.

6x9s FULL STOP dont come into any good systemThe speakers themselves can be extremely good, it's just because people insist on mouinting them in parcelshelves. Mounting 6.5" speakers in your rear shelf is no better.
That is not to say they are better than a good component set though, very few manufacturers make components in 6"x9" and even fewer of them are highend.

If your telling me they are good why if you go into a recording studio you will never ever find a 6x9 shaped speaker. FACT they are crap. Read the faq at the top off the page.

Read the faq at the top off the page. They're not crap, they're just not as good as a round speakers for reproducing sound. There is a larger force on the longer sides compared to the smaller side, that encourages it to distort. In a well designed 6x9 the effects of this force will be minimal, combine that with the extremely noisy environment of a car, the effect is negligible.
It is a balance between the above and the space available. A round speaker with the same surface area and driver as a 6x9 will be better, that doesn't mean the 6x9 is crap though.
Oval speakers are brilliant for use when you are limited in one direction but want maximum cone area.
Why do people insist on using 6x9s in their parcel shelf instead of round speakers? Fcuk knows.
6x9s get their reputation from the way people use them.
Oh just thought I'd add; I'm not having a go, I just thought I'd straighten it out. Any speaker sucks when stuck on a parcelshelf with a sub in the boot, or without for that matter (exc subs).
