i have just got the january 2007 mag and on the rolling road day section the power figures of the saxo vts and c2 vts are poor, a couple saxo vts have forced induction kits, 4-2-1 manifold, de-cat pipes. i thought as standard vts had 120bhp? the figure after the rolling road session was just under 100bhp atw.
with all the mods how come the power outputs are so low?
has anyone seen the magazine?

forced induction kits

are we talking turbo? i doubt some how.

the real reason is that the saxo VTS engine develops 120hp (not bhp). This refers to the power at the flywheel.

rolling roads measure hp from the wheels (know as bhp - Brake horsepower)

the power will drop as it reaches the wheels because of frictional forces within the drivetrains, roughly around 25% of fly wheel power.

so standard 120hp saxo... will probably have 90bhp.

which is same with all cars, there hp is different than there bhp.

like ad said all the readings are wheel figs not flywheel figs thats why they are all lower than you'd expect
