Ironically i was on my way back from paying the deposit for me new car and i was a fair distance from the speed camera and was doing about 34. however out of the corner of my eye i am sure i saw the camera flash in the rear view mirror. Im crapping myself becuase i can only get 6 points and i already have three so three more and my licence is gone. My speedo is pretty naffed and shakes rather erratically so i cant tell if im doing 30 or 33 etc.

The good news is that the car is registered in my mums name so surely the fine will come through for her. She has agreed to take the points if it does come through, can that be done??

The strange thing was that i had well passed the white lines on the floor and i reckon i was a good 40-50 metres from the camera and there were ppl behind me closer to the camera (I think, more like i hope).

If you do get something through the door, you Mum can take the points yes because it asks you to fill in who was driving at the time.

It can be done but it would be breaking the law.

thanks for the advice. Just have to crap myself for the next week when the post comes through. The ironic thing is that i have only two more weeks until i have had my licence two years.

you have 14 days for them to send through the NIP before you are in the clear. By the sounds of it, you weren't flashed though tbh.

Could have been, just a faint flash about 40 metres behind me. Ive been in a car thats been flashed b4 and it has always happened on the white lines stright after we have passed the camera.

Give it two weeks and if you haven't received anything (an NIP), then you're off the hook.

If you did receive something (i.e. you were flashed), then the notice will be sent to the registered keepers address (i.e. your mum). She would then confirm that she was or wasn't the driver at that particular time. To be honest, if your mum did say it was her, they would not check it. If however, your dad says he was driving, then that's a different story.

Also... you're usually allowed 10% over the speed limit which in this case is 33mph but as you said, your speedo isn't 100% accurate and because they are usually out, you'll probably find that it wasn't you who got flashed or if anybody got flashed at all. It may have even been somebody flashing their car lights? You soon know if you've been flashed by a camera. It's not feint.
