Free pc audio recording software

Just bought a pc mike and need to record me speaking.. so anyone know of software witch will let me does this for more than 2 mins unlike the lame windows one?

Need them to output the audio file into a mp3 or similar so I can wack it onto my ipod

look for mp3mymp3(records from any selected input, web, mic, cd etc etc straight to mp3 format) or creative audio do loads of good software like that for there soundcards and live drives but can be used on its own i think
