Right i want to know how can i test if this is working correctly or not. as my car idels around 3-4k and drives it's self.

most sencors u can take them of and they effect the car in same way..

"process of elimination"

for example you can take the TPS of and the car revs higher. proof it is working. same as one of back by injectors. that makes the car cut out.

however when i take the connection of the stepper motor nothing happens and car stays the same.

But would this mean it is fucked?

how would i tell? I can only guess and say that the stepper motor acts as a value that opens to let more air into the engine on idle? and if this aint closeing could cause my idel and drive problem? and also why my car is sucking in way to much air around the throttle body area.

I know this is one really old thread but my sister is having this exact problem and if someone could tell me if this is in fact the stepper motor at fault.

Cheers!

When my 1.4 used to rev by itself it was the temp sensor.
When the S used to do it it was the stepper motor, I got some carb cleaner and gave it a spray and wiped down the inside of the tb.

Just make sure you turn the ignition to the 2nd click then off 4 times before you start.

sounds more like a vacuum leak to me. make sure all the vacuum pipes are firmly connected and not split, and make sure theres no leak between the airbox and TB, and the TB and Inlet manifold. my car would idle crap and hesitate until i changed the lambda and everything leading up to the carb was tight!
