Real morbid but...

when i was younger no one really died jus like my gran and grandad but it was their time to go if ya know what i mean...

but now im gettin older people seem to be dying younger...

in aug a girl i went school with, her 16 yr old sister died in a freak accident when a tree fell on the car she was a passenger in...

in sept my best mates cousin 17 yr old cousin died when she was a passenger in a car that carrered off a dual carriageway...

and last night 2 girls died in a car crash down here, presume they were young because the people survived were 17 and 18, also arrested for dangerous drivin...

it jus makes me think more and more... you've got to live for today becuase you never know when your time is up...

jay
6th January 2007, 11:44
i know how you feel budy 3 of my mates all died within the space of two weeks

sillysammysnail
6th January 2007, 11:46
its so depressin, they're all the same sorta age and all of em were car related so dont go out much pointlessly in my car now...

jay
6th January 2007, 11:51
my mates deaths were all car related aswell

S34MER
6th January 2007, 11:56
did you also notice that all of the accidents involved cars! in most cases its young drivers, who think they know how to drive and think they have experience after just 1 year of driving, but then they loose it, usually showing off, and someone ends up worse off!

sillysammysnail
6th January 2007, 12:02
yer i know, all the drivers survived though! its not on...

imagine killing one of your passengers and yuo survive thats quite a thing to live with, my mates cousin though, the driver of that car is being done with death by dangerous driving so he will be going prison...

Life ruined forever because you was showin off one time... so not worth it...

Good, i hate people who think that driving fast is 'cool', i'll be the first one to admit that i speed from time to time, but never drivelike a TWAT when i have others in the car with me!

yeh i was on the m9 the other night, hadjust stripped the car so was caning it.

iv been driving 3 weeks yet looked and the speedo said 133mph.

it was me and the girlfriend.

i thought, what the fuck am i playing at and brought the speed right down to about 90 for the rest of the journey.

then after i dropped her off i went for a real play :) lol

Have to agree... being 18myself with 1 and a half years driving experience, i still dont dare to my limits... i know what i am and am not capable of. Ive been involved in a crash and had my car written off and it was a horrible experience!

It makes ya think... knowing people/of people who die at a young age wants you to live life a bit more

Its weird,
you pass your test and before you, you have endless amounts of Road to drive on.
Its a rush, its a thrill and it is fun.

I think majority of people are taken back by this but a smaller majority (myself included)
feel free and open to do what they want in a car if you know what I mean.
Things like driving experiance should come over many years but in our eyes
as soon as 'you feel' comfortable you think your a good driver.

From then on I guess in a way you do feel invincible:

Once you get 100mph out of a car your like "yea yea I can hand any car"
You overtake somebody and think "man that was good"
Then you push it a bit more, try going round a roundabout at 40mph "woah scary now"
Your mates then jump into your car so you show them what you have 'learned'

Next thing you know your car is in peices and so are your friends...

i am, booked on knockhill for 4th febuary.

if i want to speed, ill speed, my dad drove his sierra cossie at 160 near enough daily to and from work for 10 years, not a point on his license.

bought a mondeo st220 a few months back, got caught over 2 miles with average speed of 99.3. got a big fine and 5 points.

if i get caught i get caught, if i crash, i crash.

however if anyones in the car, i drive carefully, fair enough maybe not to speed limit depending on situation, but carefully.

I don't have a problem with you being a speed freak im exactly the same, used to have quads etc myself, most people on the forum are the same.

But in my eyes speeding around with the attitude "if i get caught i get caught, if i crash, i crash" makes you a prick in my eyes, see your just thinking about the consequences to yourself. Think about if you hit a kid crossing the road and kill him! Your gonna have to live with that for the rest of your life, seeing the kids family in court, seeing how devastated they are, then spending a few years in the cells! all for driving like spoon!

I think you got alot to learn youth!

rushy_23
6th January 2007, 12:49
Ive heard of way too many people crashing close to me, hell I crashed my VTR
lol (forgot about that!)
My GF Shantel was with me in the car and thats what hurt me the most, f*ck
my car she was so upset by the whole thing.

When I look back on that day now, if a little kid was on the pavement I would
of mounted them and crushed them into the brick wall I hit. How lucky was
I that nobody was there...

Honestly people really dont know how serious speeding is. Salmon you
say "if I crash then I crash" this isnt good enough your missing the point.
What about the life you take down with you at the same time??? Can you
live with that. By the sounds of things you probably could..

Im not lecturing anyone, im just passing on my experiances so you dont have
to go through the same things.

If I had lost her then I dont think I would be on this forum today or even own
a car now.

saxooxas
6th January 2007, 12:49
yeah good point rush but salmon you shouldnt want to be doing 133 everywhere, its dangerous lol! plus speeding everywhere will screw you over when you go through speed cameras and get too many points. Plus what if you run someone over? Youve got to consider the consequences of your actions if youre going to speed everywhere

Suie
6th January 2007, 12:50
when i passed my test meany moons ago my first car was an x reg escort...top speed of 30 lol. i just enjoyed being able to drive and being indpendent.

These days the kids who pass are getting s reg saxos and feel the need to prove how fast they can go! which is why you are hearing about more young deaths on the road...driving isnt all about speed.

my theory any way.

The most ironic thing about all of this is yesterday I saw a mate of mine
a lot younger than me, he has just passed his test and is now driving a
1.1 Mk1 Punto.
In true 'new driver fashion' he wheels spinned off down the road in a
residential 30mph area.. lol.

i was fortunate to survive a bad car accident, me and my cousin got out with only minor injuries, but it could have been alot worse. there were alot of things looking after us that day

Thing I really dont understand is how can anyone say if I crash I crash.
Think about your family having to look after you if your seriously injured, the pain
they will have to go through and it also is a physical hassle.

People should be so self centred and selfish but I guess thats life these days.

All small hatchbacks have a boy racer imagine, nothing we can do about it! If
you mod your car anymore then that just ups the boyracer imagine even more.

You obviously dont value your life mate, you have a very wrong one sided attitude. Yes everyone like to put there foot down now and again, but only when in the right environment eg. a track not on public roads, thats why there's speed limits.

You will learn though as your only young.

Salmon1
6th January 2007, 13:17
i drive sensibly all the time with passengers.

i drive sensibly 90% of time alone during day, unless i see another vtr, cant help myself wanting a wee race, most saxo drivers up here are always up for a race anyway ;)

i drive fast in the middle of the night on country roads.

rerally not half as bad as you make out.

at the end of the day, i can see your not going to change the way you drive, so you'll just have to learn the hard way, and if you continue to drive at silly speeds, then sooner or later your luck will run out, and i hope you will survive it, cause all it takes mate is for a tyre to blow, i've seen a blow-out at 70mph and it caused carnage!! let alone a blow-out at 100mph+ 99% sure youre gonna write it off at that speed, unless you can keep it on the road, which is very unlikely!!

i admire your determination of thinking its ok to speed on public roads... a lot of people buy fast cars for tracks etc. We all know that there are speeds limits to stick to and we know why they are there.

Whats the point of having an attitude like that just to become a statistic?

heh another reason not to go to Edinburgh other than the weather ;)

Surely its when you're all pumped up for a race that you are at your most dangerous to other road users.

I'm the first the stand up and complain when there is too much of a focus on speed limits with regards to safety. Much of safe driving is down to the right attitude and very good awareness. Something new drivers often don't have and certainly something you come across as lacking in your posts.

Sure I'm not going to be a hypocrite and say I never speed, but there is a right way and a wrong way to do it.

You ever had that feeling where your throat feels like its relocated itself to your arse? If not then just wait because that is the feeling + more that you will get when you end up mowing down some poor little kid because of your selfish attitude to driving

one thing they teach you when you are learning to drive is to anticipate what might happen around you. now can you honestly say going stupid mph down a country road a kid couldn't possibly walk out? I think not...

i don't think you'll ever learn. like you said if you crash you crash - if you kill somebody then what? shrug it off like a hard man or crumble under the stress of knowing you're a complete pr**k?!

Bascially, it hits home that if you do stupid speeds or crash accidently or whatever it aint jus you that you've gotta think about...

You've got to think about your passengers, other road users and pedestrians!!!

Not pointing the finger but it is generally young people that have the worst crashes because they tend to show off and race. Hitting something concrete or solid when at speed will not leave much of the car in tact...

no i like to do everything all or nothing, ill be honest, my main problem is im never content.

if i have a scooter, i want to mod it to be fast, same with the car.

end of the day im driven by speed and adrenalin, iv never been into football or any of that, i love extreme.

Your just a fucking wanker end of, a cunt like you killed a relative of mine and he had so much of his life left to live. Sad thing is 9 times out of 10 the arsehole's walk away with cuts and bruises. The guy who killed my relative walked away pretty much unscathed. You deserve all you have got coming to you, fucking twat...............
