had a problem with overheating.....been told its the fan and the wiring...
been told that its going to cost around £150 for a new fan and around £150 for the rewiring and relay.
does this sound right or am i getting ripped off?

sorry bud, no idea of the price, but would it not be worth getting a second hand fan at least? should cut down on your costs.... just a phone call away

Did you check your self the fan isn't kicking in?
And yeah I would go to a scrapyard and get some there instead, that's alot of money new :n:

Sounds a bit expensive. There are liekly to be loads of second hand fans and wiring about. Try ebay and also try scrap yards, much cheaper.
Saying that my water temp gauge goes up to half was anywhere i drive. Think i will ignore it as long as it doesnt go any higher.

Good advice check if the fans coming on, sometimes you cant hear it inside the car.
Get a second opinon before spending to much money could be worth a little chat with Citroen after all you dont have to have the job done with them, simply take their advice/opinons else where :-)

if he did the work without your consent then you are not obliged to pay him... plus he's talking crap
Did he bleed the system to check if that was a cause?
The lack of fans would usually only cause overheating in very slow moving / stationery conditions.
Best to check the engine thermostate first to see if thats faulty, also whether the rad is evenly hot all over, check fan relay also..

make him remove it and tell him to fuck off,you never told him to do it,therefore you have no obligation to do so

1. sounds stupid but check your antifreeze level
2. hold car idle at 1500 rpm for 1 min and see if the fan kicks in..
3. bleed system, this is quite tricky since most people dont use a header tank when refilling causing air to be sucked in (top hose is lower then where you refill)
4. thermostat- take out boil kettle.. put in to see if it opens fully... shud b around 85 degrees it shud open so almost instantly :)

sounds a bit wierd if relay gone to replace wiring to and also fan? first you need to find out if your fan works at all have you heard it running? if you know your overheating because your fan doesnt come in then ya can go from there.
dunno bout any1 else but find i hear my fan kick in alot
