nothing too phat.
inwardly rolled, single suits the paxo. go knows on diameter, but dont go for a dustbin diameter.

Curran

not sure, either 3" or 4". someone on here will be able to tell you
its a guy's car who's a member on here caller "carln" if you pm him he'll be able to tell you. i think he's sold the car now though and i dont think he's on here very often.

looks about 4"
IMO 3 or 3 1/2" inward or outward rolled does the trick

I recall DampCavid saying that 2.5" was the best for performance.

Ads... Are you talking about actual pipe diameter? If not, I can't see how the size of the tailpipe has any effect on a cars performance :-S
Curran
12th January 2007, 21:16
surely the size of the tailpipe cant effect performance greatly. i think its more to do with the size full exhaust system, such as the size of the centre section. maybe thats what campdavid meant by the best size being 2.5"? if you know what i mean.
damn it, damo you beat me to it. i need to type faster!

might have been the full system diameter
Actually the exit nozzle does have an effect due to exit pressures and subsonic/supersnoic flows and all that sheeeeiite.

he would have been on about bore of system, and i think it would have been 2.25 not 2.5, thats too big for NA. tailpipe doesnt afffect power. also, powerflow exhaust will do nothing for power, it will probably be worse than standard.

Idea bore for highly tuned 16v engines is 2.25" yes. (tailpipe size is irrelevent) SP
No point on a next to standard car from what Ive read.
If I was you mate just go for a single 3.5" inward rolled (like the magnex)
It may not look anything special (or stupid imo) but its definatly the best
looking tailpipe for the Saxo.
Its nice but not over the top if you know what I mean.

Yeah I wouldnt go to powerflow for a performance exhaust. But if you have decided on it I would go for something similar to the shape of a btb personally.

there's no way thats a 3 inch diameter tip, no wonder kids these days think they have big dicks! half of them don't know what an inch looks like! :panic:

pwoerflowsystems have a smaller bore than the standard system!!!! when yu couple that with non-mandrel bends its even worse. it will be about 1.75" on teh bends!!!!!
rushy_23
12th January 2007, 23:18
I heard its still 2" ?
Must be wrong.
There is a custom place by me (MIJ Performance) and I think all bores are
set to a default of 2" unless stated otherwise.

mines a 2" bore and its powerflow and i didn't ask for it! thats just what they fitted for me!
williamsvts

i measured mine and the OD was 2", so say its 1mm thick piping its gunna be 2mm under 2", then there is the bends where it reduces.

have you measured it with a vernier or micrometer?
S34MER
12th January 2007, 23:27
I remember asking the guy who fitted it, a lad called Paul who i know there and he told me the piping he's using is a 2" diameter bore! now surely by bore he means the inside of the pipe not the actaul pipe thickness aswell!
williamsvts
12th January 2007, 23:28
bore is the inside. measure it though, it wont be a 2" bore.
Barry123

tailpipe doesnt afffect power
naaa as long as there is a device connected to the exhaust system then it'll affect it. Until the gases are out into the atmosphere then whatever is in the way of the exhaust gases will affect how the engine behaves.
too big - very little back pressure, results in bot all torque at the bottom end.

yeah! so im gonna cut a chunk outta my system to see if its actually 2" bore!! not likely ;)
williamsvts
13th January 2007, 00:09
you could measure it where it connects to cat. or measure OD, that will be 2".
ad - its the 1st silencer that affects power, tailpipe does not. check the size tailpipe on WRC cars.

have you measured the bore with a vernier? they are 50mm OD.

50mm is the bore as the od is 53mm by the way 2" is 50.8mm
