Yeah or might have to replace the stepper motor?

just get used to it i have.
i would but it loses all power sometimes, you can hold it at 3000 rpm and it will gradually fall then misfire badly
sorry forgot to say i replaced the stepper motor when i cleaned the throttle body

Stepper motor controls your idel.
you stepper motor works buy opening a value on your trottle body leting air in depending on how hot or cold your engine is.
hence when cold your car will rev 1.5 - 2 and when warm around 700-900. these are a comman problem with saxo's esspeserly VTS. They cost 110 quid from citreon. mine is broken atm but i did a bodge job ;) i sut mine of witch means the car will be crap when cold but normal when at propa temp.
sorry missed you replaced stepper..
The gasket on the trottle body aint leting air in? your car needs air to rev or it will just die.. have you check your inlet manifold? u can spray stuff on it and if blue stuff comes out your exhaust youve got a leak somwhere.

i fitted all new gaskets when i reinstalled the throttle body
when its first started it runs really nice then after about 5 mins it sometimes starts misfiring and you lose all power, then you rev it and it seems to settle then starts doing it again

idle control sensor or petentiometer (sp) is the most common problem for these, my car done the same and i replaced the sensor and goes much better now. as said there around £110 but you can get them at a motor factors aswel instead of the dealer and its around £20-30 cheaper

i nearly hit the garage cos mine cut out now and again but this 1 time i was pulling on to my drive and when i put my clutch down the car cut out and obviously the stiring and brakes dont work properly so ripped my hand brake up and managed to stop, but i have got used to it now!

My car used to rev itself up, especially when it it was hot, and it turned out to be the temperature coolant sensors. I replaced the blue and the green one and it sorted the problem

idle control sensor or petentiometer (sp) is the most common problem for these
the potentionmeter that is on the back of the throttle body below the idle speed control valve?
should i check to see if the coolant sensors are corroded?

tested it again, just before it cuts out it sounds like its drawing to much air in from the filter if you get what i mean, the air filter hisses loads the it cuts out
could this be a map sensor issue? drawing in to much air?

yes that what i said mate, basically if your map sensor fails it confusses your lambda sensor which then over fuels the engine try pullin the map sensor out when the engine is runnin and try disconnecting it aswell

yeah thats the best idea my one made lots of noise as if there was alot of air being drawn in, cleaned the sensor and was fine. the sensor got filled with oil.

My old forté used to rev like a bastard when it was cold, my VTR is fine once it warmed up, seems to be a common problem on saxo's.

A little bit of an old thread but I was wondering if anybody had this problem and had fixed it as mine is doing the same thing!!!!!!! It mainly started doing it when I got my throttle ported and polished and since then it has been misbehaving!!! Since then I put a standard one on yesterday hoping it would fix it but it hasn't. Any conclusions at all Help GREATLY appreciated.

idle controller(stepper motor) mate did mine this week and and its been great since, there about £115 from citroen but i found one on ebay for 20 bucks, mine had the same problems that yours is having(problems revving at 3000rpm) and once i changed it it was fixed, now some people tell you you will need to take your car to a garage to get it fixed but you wont! just stick the new one on and run it, your car will more than likely run like shit (revving up and down at lights ect..) but after doing a few miles it will bed in. hope this helps mate.

Cheers mate I might give this a go. As money is not on the top of the list it is hard to go and spend that much not knowing that it will definatly fix the problem!!! I was going to get it tuned on the rollers to sort the problem out do you think that will work? It only does it now and again tho that is the pain in the ass thing lol!!!

^^^^^^^ Cheers mate. I have had a look at that but it does not do it all the time. It will do it whenever it wants to, my foot will be to the floor say 5th gear 30mph and it will missfire and pop like a scoobie but go nowhere and I will slow down, then it will suddenly sort itself out and then be fine. It will do it when I am driving too a little jerk and then will be fine!!!!!!!! Very annoying, I got told because I have a pnp throttle body and a mani on it it will need tuning again on the rollers to sort out the air fuel mixture???
