Use some APC or if you dont have any then mix up a strong solution of shampoo and water in a spray bottle, then scrub your tyres using a sponge etc, the cleaner your tyre then the longer the dressing will last

I do what hessle does and wash them at the end with the sponge, then some tyre black once they've dried.

Sponge to wash/clean. Then tyre shine/dressing.

sounds a bit cheap but great results. Give the tyres a clean with diluted Flash and hot water, dry off then spray with Tesco (green can) wheel and trim spray, well worth it

I do the same aswell.

Wash tyres with sponge at the end and spray on my tyre dressing.

I use a Meguiars Upholstery Brush on my tyres with APC, it works better than shampoo and water :)

Just get some autoglym instant tyre dressing! 6 quid a decent sized bottle, tyres clean with like 3 sprays!

i used to use auto glym tyre dressing on my previous cars and it works well but it wears off as soon as you drive it. Halfords sell tyre wall paint its a black thick paint applied with a brush and the effect is really good and lasts much longer than tyre cleaner. just make sure you wipe off any excess straight away with an old ragg. :p

I wash them when doing the car, again with a sponge it picks up more shit on the tyres. Then i use Wilko tyre foam cleaner followed by Wilko tyre shine. Looks really good, and those two on black trim are better than any back to black ive used

i do this but you should do your wheels 1st incase any of the wheel cleaner or tyre black would go on your clean paint work
