Hey, i have the chance of getting a 106gti converted vtr with about 30k on the engine. Its an R 1997 vtr. Needed repairing as was a right off (only small damage tbh, which has all been fixed up), its all kitted out, wheels etc. Just wondered what its worth? I'm not a fan of posi blue as they are quite popular, but when i first saw the car a few months back i loved it!

I have a feeling if i dont get it of the guys hands hes going to try sell it to people on here, or some other saxo forum... WHATS IT WORTH? £800?

PS - The Power Steering pumps just gone... is that a cheapish job?

Anyone??? Also what should i be looking, hoping to pop to the crappy cruize tomorrow to drive it! I will obviously look at where it has been repaired. Any typical tests i should do as its a SAXO? if you get where im coming from (common faults) I'l find out if the clutch and brakes have been uprated? as its a conversion.

CV joints mate, i've just had to replace bothe driveshafts and cost me over £300, deffo check them as they are a common fault on the saxo! aside from that, idle problems, gearbox, anything really, its a lootery when you buy a second hand car, so anything could go wrong as with any car!

Do check the CV's do i just do tight circles and drive at different speeds(not at the same time?) Basically do what i'd normally do trying a car?

go on full lock both sides and check for clicking/clunking

also check for any clunks whilst pulling off and stopping

check for rattling noises which could be the drop links, track rod ends or lower ball joints as they are common fault on saxos but cheap to repair

clutch and gearbox can easily be check just by driving such as when your cruising along, lift your foot of the accelerator and if you hear any grinding/whirring, this could potentially be the diff(gearbox) or clutch

good luck
