hey all. its through tesco's. im not 17 untill april, plus theres the how ever many months of learning and passing. ive been through the quoting system on tesco, i dont gather no claims etc but the price is really appealing to be on my mums name.
on the other hand £550/year on direct line,i gather no claims, im really new to the scene. after a few months could the prices change a lot.ive saved the quotes etc.
im not going to work everyday to just pay for insurence on my own policy, i will look at that after a few years when qualified, timeserved in my job etc
any helpfull comments would be appreciated :y:

Im assuming that the prices are TPFT. £365 is a very good price but then so is £550 if you can earn your own no claims. I would go with the £550 becuase it will make a big difference later down the line. These prices seem very cheap for a 17 year old though, even through your mum. Am i right in thinking you are using her no claims on the policy as well?.

When I first passed my test, I was a named driver on my dads policy.
Then when I bought my first car, I got my other half to insure it, and have me as a named driver again. Worked out ALOT cheaper.
Eventually I decided to have my own policy so I could save my no claims etc, so, although if id have had my own policy from the start it would be cheaper now, It was still worth it at the time cos we were running 2 cars!
(and diamond actually said I could transfer my other halfs 1yr no claim, as it was my car!!) :y:
Swings and roundabouts comes to mind!!!! :p

well on the site it asks if your mum has made any claims in the past so many years...and convictions, which she hasnt on any of them, then after if asks for a no claims discount whick i put as 0/none, left it blank.
so no i havnt used the no claims discount as far as i know. works out on tesco's like £50odd per month.

Thats a good price then mate. From what you described above you are not using your mums no claims. Talking from my experience i would go for the more expensive and build up your no claims. Ive been driving two years and have been on my mums for both so zero no claims for me. My insurance is £850 fully comp on my furio and im still on my mums. If i had two years no claims already it would be a lot cheaper and i could have gone on my own.
