i really wouldnt bother with them. i tried to have 2 in my install but they stopped everthing else working some how. so i had no choice but to remove them. if you need the power a second battery is far better and no more expensive.

i was too late, i suppose a 2nd battery wouldnt be too bad but wouldnt it need wiring to the alternator to charge it?

you need to earth the earth terminal to the cars body work and then split the power cable by cutting it and goining both to the + side of the cap that is it. As I have said b4 with the 6 x 9's If you dont like them FINE but if some one asks a question try and answer it and not just slate people.

Wont help all a cap does is lessons the strain on the battery when the amp pulls on a hard bass note. If you wont to stop the lights dimming like said b4 add a yellow top optima battery with a split charge relay. Easy to do.

should not cost more than £35 as it should be done in 30 mins - and hour.

heres a drawing on how to do it but i wouldnt bother, its just another money maker for people for an object that does nothing, the power cable goes into the power cap and then another ones comes off that to an amp its basically like a fuse and has to be within about a foot of the amp,

does a remote wire have to go to the + on the power cap or will the power cap just be working when the ignitions on (im thinking that if a live is on the power cap its going to be constantly working so to speak)

no it wont be constantly on, i think the remote wire if rot them with a digital display but im not sure mate, have you actually got this power cap

you dont need a remote lead as a power cap is always charging and when it is fully charged (witch takes seconds) and it does not decharge for a little time it will turn the display off itself.

Correct me if i am wrong here, but is a power cap not just a very small battery thats a bit over priced?

well kind of a battery supposed to give extra power when needed but there crap really just a money maker, you would be better off uprating the battery tbh

Do 'the big three':

Upgrade the wire between the following places, using 4awg:
Chassis -> Battery neg terminal
Alternator -> Battery posi terminal
Engine -> Battery neg terminal

A cap works in theory if the peak current is a problem. However most amps have enough capacitance on their power supplies anyway. The problem lays with the above wiring, particulary the chassis -> battery neg, where there is a bottleneck.
