... is £2300 a normal price to insure me on a Saxo 1.1.

Details

I'm 18, had full license 6 months.

Car is 1.1, 1998, 3 door. Value around £800 - £1000.

Cover for social only, no extras etc. No crashes, nothing.

Nothing really else to say... but can't find a reasonable quote (around £1000 I'd say) regardless of level of cover. Or is £2000 reasonable? I've tried everyone, and around £2000 is the best price, most commonly more.

Try Tesco value, they should give you a much cheaper quote than that

Just tried, came back with this:

£2,563.05

Mmm, nice tasy sum...

I'm seriously getting knacked off, what is it?! I know it should be expensive, but this is rediculous!

What about Elephant.co.uk. I managed to get my 1.1i x insured for just under £800, thats with a crash and i have got 0 no claims bonus i'm 20 and have had my license for nearly 3 years.
They were over £200 cheaper than Tesco who i was with previously!

it doesnt just with your age and car type their are alot of other factors such as car crime in that post code or car related crime it is a bit steep but they will be able to explain why

yeah but surely the wirral doesnt have a high crime rate! can you not go with your parents or anything?

Try adding one of your parents to the policy as a 2nd driver to see if that brings it down, I've done that on a few quotes and the price dropped around £400 (not on a Saxo though). Do you live in a dodgy area?

When I first got my Furio I was 19, license for 1 year, write-off to my name. Insurance was only £1100 fully comp (social & commuting) and the car was only 6 months old.

Go on www.autotrader.co.uk - and get a quote through them

They search local companies aswell and can sometimes bring back some nice quotes

you must be filling something in wrong mate cause i was 18 when i had my own insurance on 1.1 and it was about 1400 for third party fire theft, social only

Ben_C

I just don't get it, not doin anything wrong! Nope, not high crime here, ain't seen any car crime at all. I see other threads of people being 18 getting VT* for around £1000.. jeez...

It's not like I'm trying to shave tenners off, the quotes are just rediculous and I don't know why! At the mo I'm on the back of my mum paying £1200 (More Than) TPFT which from what my mates are telling me is silly. But tbh it's looking very cheap...
