i find the forum really good and loads of great advice and help but the forsale section is one place that i hate! when i have a bit of spare cash i like to buy a few bits for my car but i go into the for sale section and everypost is the same "make me an offer" people who say this must have a price they are looking for in mind as 99% of the time they so no to offers as they say its not quite the price they were looking for!
on every other forum i go on its a general rule of the forum that every thing in the for sale sections has to have a base price, this stops peoples time being wasted with silly offers and it stops general spamming and banter going on in the for sale posts!
Put a picture of what you have for sale and then a price if its hard to think of a price have a look to see what they are going for and put a price near that with ono on the end.
there are loads of things in the forsale section at the minute that i want to buy and i have cash to buy them but i just cant be arsed with sending loads and loads of pms and posting offers upon offers! if offers is what people want then put it on ebay as id rather just go and spend my money in a shop and pay the full price as it saves with the fucking about!
That is all :A:

Its been said before that you have to state a ball mark figure.
The only person who is losing out in the seller in the end.
Sometimes people dont have a clue how much things are worth so they see the range of figures that come in and they know a rough figure of what to expect for it.

It's being looked in to... it is a good suggestion and I agree that it does work better as noticed on other forums.

but people still know how much they want for their goods its not hard! i dont know if its because people are scared of other members taking the piss i they want too much for what they are selling or what!
there is not one thing for a saxo that hasnt been sold before even if its rare stuff by procomp its been bought brand new in the first price. think how much you bought it for knock a few quid off and put ono on the end or if you think its worth £50 more than you bought it for put £50 ontop of the price with ono on the end!

i kinda agree on this .. putting a price on things is a good idea and then u can haggle away from there

Yes... rules should be enforced like they do on other sites. But even so... it's still hard to keep track of each thread and thus making the seller put an "approx" price up.
But... the longer they don't indicate a price, the longer their item(s) will take to sell.

yes exactly!
forums i use remove products after one day if they dont have a price on the item! its a genral rule the website is letting you advertise your goods for free and not taking any of the costs so you just put a price up to stop arguments and spaming and everyone is happy

If people have no idea what they should be expecting it to fetch i suggest they stick it on ebay with no reserve and 99p start?
a base figure is always a good start point in forums

if you change it, dont make it the same as ssc, as i hate that for sale part
i think it works well the way it is now

A rough price is a minimum but as people have said, its the seller that looses out. I've had cases before where I've been told that someones going to sell me something, then backed out because they've got a better offer, hence I don't bid on anything like that any more as its just too much of a hastle

Something that "another" site has which is a good and bad thing is once a for sale thread goes up, it is then closed so that any potential buyers will have to physically contact the seller (via PM, email, etc...) instead of just bumping their threads, etc... It just means that you'd only get proper buyers making the extra effort to contact the seller.

I agree, i think the seller should be responsible for the price, as they are the ones that want to shift it. I dot agree that its only the seller that loses out because if you find somethig on there that you have been looking for, for ages, then they mess you around, its you thats also losing out on the product that you want

One thing that really annoys me is when people browse through the for sale section and post 'nice car, good luck with the sale' pisses me right off. :rage:
Its also seen as spamming.
