If the stepper motor on a Saxo was donald ducked, would this cause the EML to come on?

If it was taken to a garage with the EML off, would the machine still find any problems with the stepper/idle valve?

Cheers mate

I've also read that the temp sensor can cause the car to rev itself. Like when sitting stationary it'll stick at between 2 and 3000 revs.

Any truth in this?

That would be the water temp sensor. I had this problem a while ago but it turned out to be the wiring to the sensor. Every so often it would idle at about 1600 rpm.

The engine coolant temperature sensor can cause this...read my 'sticky' in the saxo FAQ - Engine & Management forum...
