mine does this sometimes, you will be sat at lights and it will just rise to 1000-1500 then a blip on the throttle stops it. Seems so harmless I've not bothered meddling.

My 1.1 does this only in one location though nowhere else it is very unverving when your not doing anything and you see the rev counter going up and down. I thought i was seeing things

check the green temp sensor at the front of the engine bay mate, I had the same problem with mine, replaced the sensor and now its fine!

Yeah common problem on the saxo, could be on of a number of sensors or the coil pack, spark plugs etc.

its more likely to be the coil pack mate

its more likely to be the coil pack mate

If you car is revving on it's own... or having 'sticky' high revs then it is NOT likely to be the coil pack... if your coil pack goes wrong it is most likely to make your car appear to misfire and/or have low revs...

The problem most sounds like the green engine coolant temperature sensor... as mentioned in my FAQ thread linked to in the first reply...

Thanks
