yep 1.6 16v but think it gives less then 100bhp but not sure on figures, price was my only concern for a rover but it is in good condition with full service hist tax and mot and only 56k miles plus i reckon i could try bartering and get it to about 900 or so

Not worth a grand mate!! no chance, u could get a civic for that price, to put it in perspective, three years ago i was offered 1.6 Gti (badged as, may be a "sprint") for 400 bucks, immaculate car inside and out bar one spot of rust on the door. Was the twin cam honda unit. he sold it for 500 to someone else though cos i couldnt insure it

My bf bought a Rover Coupe 216 as a runaround before christmas, paid £800 for it with 72k. It's now up for sale. He had it 3 weeks before the water pump started leaking. The cambelt would need changing soon and it had a suspected head gasket too so he decided financially it would be best to get rid. He liked it, it was a nice car but he hates having a car that is hard to work on and he said everything was tight and hard to get to and you could see where Rover had cut corners

He bought a Xantia estate instead. Diesel with 196k on the clock for £400

a mate of mine blasted past me yesterday in one of them rover 216's, pretty darn nippy. i quite like them, be a great run around... if your not too fussed check out PROTONS, people who have not owned one diss them but they are very very very good cars i think, cheap as chips too

My mate had one of them, was having constant problems but was pretty nippy. Im pretty sure a vtr is just as quick though. Unfortutaley he got rear ended so it was gone!

I believe that it won't be the honda engine that they used in the model before though, which is poo!

ye there suprisingly good cars, my mate has had 2 and it pulls to 110mph in 4th quite easily, very nippy but obviously not the fastest car around for a 1.6 16v.

id recommend one, but i wouldnt personally pay 1k just for a runaround

i think for the money something like a vw polo or golf would probabley work out more reliable!

The ka's are pretty good aswell matey, won't have to spend much at all to keep it going and also insurance is dirt cheap. Petrol will be good too :)

the k series 1.6 is around 115bhp, not too sure on the honda engine. if its the k series engine make sure you service it and keep an eye on your colling system, the head gasket tends to go alot.

well on some auto you can push u foot down it will stop you push a little harder it will click that drops it down a gear , or you can just like kick the gas down and it will drop down, or if you got duoshift then you can play with the gears up and down as much as you like lol

i had a rover 111sli (its a metro, lets not kid anyone!) as my first car. it was 8 years old when i bought it. ran it for 2 years with no trouble at all. its been the most reliable car ive ever owned to date (probably coz the next 2 cars ive had since have been french!).

if you can get that 216 for a bit less then it could be a bit of a bargin. check the wheel arches as they tend to rust like a bastard. easy enough to fix with a bit of filla though.
