engine in neutral sometimes falling out

Hi

I sometimes have the problem when I just start my car (saxo 1.1i) (and the engine's "cold") that he drops out, also in neutral the RPM is about 500rpm which is of course not enough (It should be around 900/1000 normally) so I have to rev up a little in the beginning I start my engine.

Any1 has an idea what this could be ? Is it serious ?

Mark from the forums here told me it's nothing serious but I just wanted to be sure, it can be annoyting sometimes though.

And when the engine's at a normal temperature it acts perfectly fine.

Elsewise I have no problems at all with the engine.



PS. He doesn't always do it, just sometimes.

I have had this too.

took it to citroen and got told it was fine, nothing wrong with it.

From various peoples opinions it can be many different things. Best thing to do is take it to citroen and see if they can find anything or increase the speed at which it idles.

i heard from somewhere that the revs drop at idle due to the crap thats in the engine. think u have to just clean out the pipes and it shud b fine! i have a similar problem 2 u as well! wen at idle the revs drop a bit and it feels awful!
once i was driving towards a roundabout and put my saxo into neutral and the revs dropped so low the engine cut out causing loss of power steering! only happened once, and nuthing happened at the time coz it woz at nite so there were no old grandads about doing 15mph! smileys/smiley17.gif

ok, I think I'll go to my dealer once (still have warranty) and ask if he can clean out the pipes, or at least, fix the problem.

Mine was about a month old when it was doing it. No problems sice then tho..

1996, and 116.000 kilometers, dunno how much miles that is i think about 60-70k miles

my cars a 98 's' reg mk1 1.1i saxo! dun prob bout 60k miles, but it still does it on a very rare basis! had it for just over a year now
