When my dad lost his no claims certificates my mum was allowered to transfer her 5 years into my dads name so that he could use them. I know that sounds crazy but it did happen and the certificates came back in my dads name when she sent them off.

My question is, can this be done for me. My mum is the main driver on my policy whcih ends in may upon which she will have earned 1 years no claims. Can this be transferred to me and i can go on my own policy with the years no claims in my name??

Any help would be appreciated

Don't think its possible.

If you are insured with direct line then if you took out a policy with them for the next year they would give you the one year no claims.

It is possible, but depends which insurance company. Think some will allow it and others wont.

I got my other half to insure my fiesta for the first year, and I was a named driver on the policy. The year after when I rang diamond for a quote they said he could transfer the no claims he got on my car, over to me.

All he had to do was send proof of his no claims, and sign it to say I could have it!! :y:

it does depend on certain insurance companies, but i don't think 1 years no claims will lower the price of your premium by very much, not sure, sorry xx

1 year no claims reduces your premium by easily 40% heres proof 1 year no claim is a HUGE difference its the difference between 1 yr n 2 yrs thats marginal

0 years driving 0 years no claims tpft cover for 12months
vts about 2400
106 gti 2400

Do you think quinn direct or directline will transfer no claims? If so i feel cheap insurance coming...

Also would it work with myself only being 18? Does it only work if.... a 24 year old has been driving 5 years but has 0 no claims, so someone offers to give him 4 years no claims?

Whereas i've been driving sinse november so i would have no possible way of getting 4 years no claims?

It's not gonna work like people think.

Insurance companies are not just gonna let people start 'giving' there no claims away. And 95% of the time, they probably wont allow it at all. Espiecally if your a new driver!

Insurance companies work on there own discretion. In other words, they will make there own decisions based on the facts given. when they let me have my other halfs no claim, it was because it was only 1 year, and it was actually earned on 'my' car, which was the one I was trying to insure. And I was a named driver on that policy for the year 'he' earned the no-claims!

Doubt very many companies will, but as in the case above, transferred from husband to wife, on the same car, after many years driving experience, some insurance companies would do that. (but not many)

Just remember, insurance companies are not out to give YOU the best deal, they just want as much money as they can get!
