ive been hit up the back today by some guy in a 4x4 and he has dented the boot, cracked the rear bumper and smashed me light. ive spoken to a lotof people including my dads mate who is a policeman and they all reckon its his fault as i was going round a roundabout and had to break then he hit me. will the insuers check my car over whe they access the dmage, particlary the suspension becuase its not fully covered yet as i havnt got the engineers report yet. let me know cheers :y:

as it's his fault, his insurance company will send a loss adjuster out to inspect your car, basically to see if there is any way of getting out of paying for your damage. technically you shouldn't really have been driving as you're suspension wasn't declared (again tecnically, due to you not having the engineers report) so if they do send someone out and he picks up on that then they wont pay out.

i know im not technically insured on it. should have been on monday as i was hoping to get the torsion bar done on sunday after getting the fron done sat but the bar was isezed so have to wait 2 weeks til i can get me mate to do it. so wasnt planning on having it half done. they have no way of proving i have it tho can they? the only thing visible are the rear dampers and they could just be standrd replacements. as it doesnt look lowered.

i know im not technically insured on it.

'not technically insured' = 'not insured at all'

yeah?

To be honest though, I've seen enough posts and threads to suggest that more often than not they usually pay out regardless. Although as its not your fault, it shouldnt be going through your 'technically' void insurance. so you dont have a problem surely?

It would have been insured becuase all i needed to get was a engineers report when it was done. The suspension isnt done yet tho becuase i couldnt get the torsion bar done on sunday when i got the front done on the saturday so i thought it would have been done by sunday and have an engineers report.

you may get away with it.. the chap will probably concentrate on looking at the rear damage.

remember, they dont want to look at the car, they would much rather be somewhere else. try and distract them ? only a suggestion.

Not really. if he hit us his insurance will cover damage to our car, if he didnt have insurance we wud be fukd and have to pay for it ourselves (if like me TPFT)

I think its pathetic when someone hits YOU... and the insurance wont pay out because something isnt declared which has nothing to do with the situation?! You shouldnt have a problem if the guys admitted liability.

Surely its nothing to do with the other insurance company what you have declared and what you havnt? its up to your insurer to say hang on... your insurance is invalid.
