Depends how low the front is mate. 40mm is a good height. Also doing it by 'nicks' is not the right way to do it.

Agree with Dan, you should measure the height and adjust it properly, if you do it by 'nicks' you'll wreck your car.

thats not actually a true statement, there are a few people on here who have done it this way, and have no problems at all! notches or 'nicks' as you cal it mate is unaccurate and a short cut if you like you may also end up with one side higher than the other!

notches can ruin the axle bearings as it involves literally hammering the trailing arm away from the axle in order to free it from the torsion bar splines. correct way to do it is by removing the torsion bars from the axle until the arm moves freely, measuring the height, then replacing both torsion bars.

lower the back the same amount as the front. Dont lower the rear more.

as scott has said, if you start to lower the back more than the fron then your handle will be compromised(sp) and you'll see your back end sliding out more

Goldern rule generally regarded by most saxo owners is:
20mm-40mm for Handling
40mm-60mm for Looks
Id highly recommend looking around at where you drive alot and see if you could get over that bump or up that ramp with a 30mm/40mm or 50mm drop.
remember the bits that are going to catch are the front lower lip of the bumper, Your cetre box (Which can be removed) and Back Boxes depending on the drop and the size of the back box.
If you can go low for extra Kudos points but pointless if you cant get into your local supermarket or Cinema (Been there done that)
