help with neons

iv recieved my neons tday and all is well, i was wonderin if i could just attach the wires to the cigi lighter power and not bother "earthin" the neons, can i do it.

do i need a fuse at any point :S

i aint put a fuse in mine and they are working fine.
Well 1 of the wires is an earth, so it either needs to be attached to the earth wire for the cigi lighter or any suitable earthing point around the car.
The cigi one is fine though!

it wont work if you dont earth it.

Do u know which wire is the earth wire on the lighter?
Is the left wire the possitive?
In the other thread it said orange wire, mines yellow, just want to be sure.

well ive got a blue wire a grey wire and a green/yellow wire,

i imagine the green/yellow is earth
grey is live
blue is neutral

on my neon circuit iv got a black wire and a yellow wire
but i dont know where to connect them to yet smileys/smiley5.gif

Well from another thread the orange one was live, no mention of other wires.

Is ur green/yellow on the left, right, or top centre?

get yourselves a multimeter or a bulb circuit tester.

To tell which is which on the neon, cut the wires strip a little off the end and put them on the battery terminals, one on positive the other on negative, if it lights thats you if not swap the wires around

cheers for all the advise, got the neons fixed up, lookin very sweet, ended up earthin to sum bar behind the centre console and gettin the power from one of the red wires that connects to the heater switch.

next mod is spoiler and windows
