Spraying my own spoiler

Brought a new spoiler the other day and it has come in blue was going to spray it my self.
Mate told me to sand it down the prime it then paint it.
i was thinking spray it black then spray it silver anyone else done this on there car.

Dont know about the colour mixing mate, but i can say that doing it DIY, you dont get the same gloss effect as you do with the proper paint on the car.

Yeh i did a spoiler yet never fitted it, sold it on before as i changed my mind.

It's not hard. Just got to have some confidence you can get the paint job right. With some patience to sand it down.

I personally sanded it right down to the plastic with an electric sander then started again and did 3 coats of each.

As Ben said, the glossy looking finnish wont be quite the same. He should know as he bought mine lol.

shouldn't cost that much but when you haven't got any cash then it's not that easy but i can allways wait till i get paid.

did you just spray it the colour of your car or prime it first?
cause it's in the evo blue/purple colour lol

supose theres no harm trying your self

key is in the prep work

when u apply the laquer dont let the paint fully dry start spraying the laquer on when the colour is still a bit tacky will give it a bit more gloss

Sanded right down, primed, sanded, primed sanded, primed.
Some fine grade sanding before i put the colour on.

Then 3 thin coats of colour, lots of drying time between each.

Then same with the lacquer.

Was cheap as chips to do, i even bought some finer grades of paper to do it with, was less than £20 in total iirc.

Don't rush it in 1 day mate. Sand it well, thats the most boring and time consuming bit but can create a nice finnish.
