What the...
You are insuring a VTR arent you? How can you possibly have a quote over £3,000 id say even that would be a maximum for someone if they were 17 and just passed or something.

What can you do though?
1)Sell the car
2) Pay 9 million pound a year
3) dont bother with insurance your the lucky type it'll be ok
OR
4) keep trying......

you just passed havent you?? thats crap man! i remember when you wer talkin about how cheap it was on a vtr for you. what was your mistake that made it £1400??? to be honest my insurance on the 1.0 is in the region of £1600 so anout £3000 grand sounds about right since the engine is much bigger.
2 options.
1. get the car regestered in your dads name then be a named driver could get you down in price but you wouldnt get your nc bonus (you would if you went with direct line tho)
2 sell it and get a smaller car. does sound bad but thats why i didnt get a vtr, insurance would kill me

get under your dads name. if your mom doesnt have any nc bonus then there is no point going under her.
do you know it was exactly £12380, yes £12k to insure me as a "named" driver on my mums 2.0 tdi passat. now thats rape lol
the cars only worth 2k

Insurance is ridiculous in Northern Ireland, although most people get quotes before buying the car?

Hmm, the ncb wouldn't come into it if he was to make a new policy thing....i don't think you can use your mums/dads ncb providing they are insured for their own car?

oh yeah, your dad would have to only be insured on that car and that car only cos you cant use your nc on two cars. thanks for straighting that out clone, my mistake.
looks like your not going to get anything under £2k dude. its a beautiful car tho like the colour!

I'm from N.I. and my isurance is under my mums name and I have it for £740 a year, but I'm using her 9 or more years no claims. :y:
No one would insure me under my own name, I think I got one quote of £4000 or £5000. Takes the piss really.

Your not alone mate, bell, elephant and another using similar information system gave me quotes of £6000. Quinn's are offering exactly the samething for 1315 for me, or 1175 for a 1.1. Try money supermarket or something, m&s or directline arnt' usually to bad. but money supermarket will give you a rough idea of which company to try.
Try doing it over the phone too as they can add more information than what you can enter using the online forms.
