well got a new 160g HD, so thought id save what i needed on my old one and scrub my machine to start afresh, as im sure I had a keylogger.

Scrubbed everything and now my pc goin kinda sluggish, and whenever I open a window the mouse goes really sluggish.. however its fine when its just scrolling around the desktop.

Also sometimes when I turn my computer on it recognises my slave HDD (my old 40g) and sometimes it doesnt show up?

Anyone know what I can do to fix any of this?
cheers

have a look in the event viewer for any errors.

Could be a faulty IDE ribbon for the slave. I take it all the drives are set correct on the jumper settings...eg. slave etc.

When you formatted did you install your motherboard drivers? This would affect the speed and the ide channels which control your hard drive.
Also did you use up to date vid card drivers. Those are two potential problems with the symptoms you have said.

you do know when you install a new hard drive you need to reformat it and defrag it first b4 you put anything on it??????

it maybe still saying the slave one for you have not changed the master and slave around ;) your new HD should be the master and if you still have the 40 in you should have that as the slave partitioned into to halfs 20gigs PC will run faster also turn your indexing off and cookies PC will run faster.

also go to START/RUN in the bar type in msconfig this will bring up a pop up which you can select what processes you want to have on when ur pc turns on turn off ones like QTASK,msn, winamp, realschedule etc etc your PC will load up alot faster for it has not as many processes to load up ;).
