i have a problem,
i have had a ping/clunk sound coming from the underneath for sometime now and its really buggng me
i have tried tightening the rear roll bar and that was fine, so i got a mate and when i made the car make the noise (trying to pull away with handbrake on, i.e making the engine rock which it does when pulling away) he said it was coming form this area
it was by the springs and i think the bolt in the photo may be loose making the exhaust move causing it to rub or something
if i am wrong, then i dont know
can ne one else shed some light on it
thanks for your time

If its like a squeeky6 door hinge noise of a ping mate it could be the clutch, mines got it really annoys me

Have you tried shaking the exhaust to see if it makes a noise?

ive had that for some time, must be the same thing.
When ive been in the car and turn the engine off, it keeps pinging every so often. Like a little screw is tapping on a metal sound.
Must be the same thing :D

i get a clink/ping noise but its only when i drive over bumpy/patched road or over the stupid speed "cushions" as they are called that are plastered ALL over kirkcaldy now. fife council are goin nuts wi them... havent had a chance to look under the car to see if somethin is loose but it sounds like it comes from the rear drivers side.

i have a problem like this. Pings occasionally over bumps or pot holes. Could be the bearing in the rear axle? apparently its quite a common fault, but if it pings when the engine is turned off and car is not moving must be something different. Maybe just exhaust cooling down or getting too hot? is it de catted

I had a clunking noise when I let off the throttle. In the end it turned out to be the metal washer that goes between the manifold and cat joint. Filled the washer and joint with copper grease, clunking noise has gone.
