on my mates saxo his fues inside his car F8 keeps blowing, which means he is stuck in his car as the doors wont unlock, no radio, no clock, no interior light.
he has a toad alam on his car that came with the car and he has had it 14 months and not had any problems until the past two weeks
any ideas why this is doing it?

check all the wires going to them items to see if theres damage to them and are shorting out
or possibly 1 of the items are faulty

sounds like something shorting out or the wrong size fuse is in
check the FAQ fo the diagrams of which fuse you should use ;)

F8... rings a bell. have a look to see if the sun roof console isnt seeping in water..
it did this about 2 months after he had the car which took us, me!, about 1 hours to figure out where all the water was coming from, lol
this is now fixed and doesnt leak anymore, please explain ads

the aerial seal is known to be a bit naff. during heavy rail it can seap a little bit of water into it which then pools in the sun roof console... the telltail is the little pool of water in the interior light... its just idea rather than a definitive answer.

but how would that affect the rest of the other stuff?
there is no water or any mositure there what so ever

oooo seapage lol, well there may be still water in the wires or dampness, that can cause it too short out, causing bursts of electric to the fuse causing it to blow, summit like that anyway :)

What is it that makes the fuse blow or does it happen at any time. does the alarm still work when the fuse blows? Has he had any work done on the can? is the alarm brain under the bonnet full up with water? Is he useing a charger in the lighter socket?

Is he using a charger in the lighter socket?
the fuse just blows at any time its just random
the alarm doesnt work when the fuse blows, the passenger door wont open, the radio, interior light, rear demister, clocks and clock lights dont work
just a smoothed boot but this has been done months before this problem started happening
the main box is under the glove box
no hes not using the lighter socket

Try disconecting things 1 by 1 that way you will be able to see what i coursing the fuse to blow.
Unplug the radio nothing else see if that stops it. IF NOT
Try and find the alarm brain unplug that see if that works and so on. That is the way i find faults when i have a car with a problem.

trying diffrent rating of fuses can cause serious damage. the fuse is there only to protect the cable, uping the rating of the fuse can lead to cables to become damaged/burnt even a risk of fire. a fuse will blow if the current demand is greater than the rating of the fuse.
if the fuse was to blow instantly as its being replaced you may be able to find the problem by disconnecting items on that circuit. but from what ur saying its got a delay in blowing and makes it harder to find the fault. may be better getting an auto electrician to have a look or maybe sum1 with a bit more experince

Think is the same problem that I had with mine...
Basically the stereo wasnt wired correctly, when I connected it to the
car it blew the fuse and I lost those same electrics.
I took it down to a electrician and he sorted it in 30mins!

Im not sure whether it was F8 that blew for me, i cant quite remember but when i put some new speakers in my saxo i didnt put the wires on securely as i wasnt at home when i put them im and thought it would be ok till i got back. But the wires came loose as i was driving and touched which blew the fuse and made my stereo, indicators and wipers not work. I have a 1.1 and maybe the fuses work different things in your model. Have you looked at that as a possiblity? Im new to cars but its just a suggestion mate. I hope your mate gets it sorted.
