Basically my dad has got my plate on his car as he got it for me before i could drive. I couldnt be bothered putting it on my first saxo, but now i think it would finish off my VTR.

Iv'e Picked up the V317 transfer document from the DVLA office, this process may take 6 weeks and cost 80 quid. Its not the money im realy bothered about just dont wanna wait upto 6 weeks to put it on.

Spoke to a mate yesterday and he said that if i ring up my insurance tell them ive got that plate on my car, they will change my documents accordingly, then i tell the DVLA of the change and they will renew tax disk log book and mot cert. or summin. Not rely sure tbh.

Anyone know best way to sort this out?

Go to your nearest DVLA centre mate and ask for all the appropriate forms. Take them home and read through them very carefully and take them back once done. At the DVLA centre they will check through all your forms and if everything is ok they will do you a new tax disc and MOT certificate whilst your there, they will also take your log book off you and send it to DVLA HQ!

At that point they will give you a new owner slip with all the new reg details on so if you get pulled you have the right info if you get pulled by the old bill.

Contact your insurance company with the new details of the registration and they will send you out a new insurance certificate.

By the way you can get your new plates as soon as you leave the DVLA centre. You can get your new plates from somewhere like Halfrauds as long as you take your new paperwork to show them you are the legal owner of the new registration.

Within a couple of weeks you should receive your new V5 and then its job all done mate!

I'm sure thats everything mate! Well i hope it is, lol!
