Ok! not even had the car a week and the Front corner passenger side suspensions will shagged! all the fluid is pissing out, now the suspension has been changed to the Spax PSX range! although at the mo i am trying to get ahold of the bloke to fond out with version they are and if they are warrenty or not!

Can any1 tell me if it is possible to take the insert out of the suspension while it is still on the car and if they have done this how did you do it!

Or have i got to go through the rigmeral of drain gear box undo bottom nut, remove caliper from front strut, pull shaft out of box and undo the 3 nuts at the top! then bobs your uncle struts out apply spring clamps remove top nut pull out insert! then do the reverse to fit back!

So if any one has either had Spax adjustables give up on them or if you have changed your suspension inserts while in the car let me know!

thanks

you wont be able to change them on car im afraid, but you dont need to drain the gear box or remove the shaft from it?

Undo the hub nut instead and remove the nut from the shaft, just remember to support the shaft on something in case you damage and of the seals

it is possible to do it on the car, fiddly but possible.

Jack it up, spring clamps on, Remove the top nut, remove the 3 nuts from the top mount, reach up inside the turrett and take out the top mount and top spring pan bits, lift up the spring and cable tie it through the top mount holes, undo the insert retainer and put your skiniest hand down through the hole the top mount left in the turrett and lift out the insert.....and....long lost uncle robert. no need to take off calipers or drain the box.

Like I say it's fiddly as hell.

The first side will probably take about 5 hours, but by the time you've sussed that the other side will take you about 20 mins.

never thought of thatsmileys/smiley17.gif

but sounds about as difficult and time consuming as just removing the strut?

yes mate, first time i did it it took for bloody ever, but once you've got the sequence sussed out you can do it in no time at all, infact last time i did it I'd done the pair in about 30mins.
