Is the drive removable?
Could always get an external one.

Which model is it?
Does the drive appear in windows explorer?
If it is removable, take the drive out and re-insert it whilst in windows.
(you should hear an "insertion" noise)
If your still having problems i may be able to help you out with a replacement depending on the model.

Sounds like the drive has packed in, motor burnt out or somthing, http://www.laptopshop.co.uk/laptop-spares.htm best bet is to replace it, should be cheap but don't quote me.. or take it down to a local pc shop and see what they think...
