Well, I'm planning on getting a Saxo SX 1.1i so I've been looking around for quotes and i tried directline and it was about 1800 tpft for me on my own(Which was the cheapest i've found by far) and then i did it with my mum as the main driver and me as a named driver, I was wondered if there is any requirements with this like does my mum have to use the car more than me etc? And if that is the case they wouldnt know, right?

So i got a quote of about £1500 with me as the named driver and then i wondered what would happen if i put my sister on it (she has a provisional) so that my mum could give her some lessons etc and with adding my sister on i expected it to go up.. but it went down to about £1100? I think this could be some kind of error with their online system because to me it doesnt make any sense what-so-ever? Can anybody shed a little light on this?

not sure about that one, but it may of gone down because your adding your sis on there (female) and it may of gone because of her, try it with other companies and see what happens. try admiral, they are good for young drivers! espically people with no no claims, its £620 (10months) for me on my own fully comp they were cheap to start off with!

Quinndirect - £1162.88

Diamond - £1444.00

It must be because of my sister then..

Cheapest quote i found was 800 ish' with pass plus. But on average with a decent company such as quins there is about 200quid difference for me for a 1.1 or a vtr. Adding my missus to the policy helps with a few companies, but with quinns it didnt make any odds. Adding a female named driver can help mate, just play around with the settings. Bare in mind if you dont go with DirectLine... you WONT get ncb for being a named driver, thats why going on mummys insurance with them is a good idea ;). Though they wont touch me with any of my parents as named drivers on a VTR.

Yea.. Thanks!!

But do they check up on who is driving the car mostly? because i wanna go on my mums, she will use it but not as much as me I'll be driving to Uni 5 days a week at least...

technically yes, shes supposed to use it more. but because insurance is a fucking joke, everyone goes under there parents names and drive more than the parents.

and i know how u feel, i get stupid quotes because i live in manchester too, worst insurance postcode :(

Yea.. Its great for things like that my gf's (She is 18yo 0 NCB) parents are both insured with directline and their house is insured with directline so she pays something like £800(or less cant remember) for a Saxo Mischief 1.0i... She always rubs it in my face :(
